Selena Batista is a violinist, pianist, and harpist based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her focus is on music education, mentorship, and performance.
She is a private teacher listed with Shar Music, King's Keyboard, and the Michigan Harp Center. She enjoys teaching students of all ages and levels, and has been teaching students and mentoring local musicians in her studio for over a decade.
Ms. Batista is currently a Master's Candidate in Physiology at the the University of Michigan (UM) and plans to apply to medical school. She is the Bowen Graduate Student Award recipient, a Center for the Education of Women (CEW+) grant recipient, and has been an Instructional Assistant at UM for three graduate-level courses. She is currently serving as the mentor for the incoming class of master's students in the physiology department and working as a Clinical Research Coordinator in Dr. Spencer-Segal's lab researching how to improve post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) outcomes in patients.
Prior to graduate school, she received her Bachelor of Science along with a concentration in music from UM. As an undergraduate student, she translated Spanish and French choral works into English and assisted with Spanish pronunciation both at the request of UM doctoral candidates in conducting as well as transcribed solos and duets upon request.
She is currently working with Bob Rama to release contemplative and fusion music in spring 2025; many of their pieces have been premiered at live performances. They also provide music for patients at Michigan Medicine through Music While You Wait and are releasing recordings with Gift of the Arts.
